Movie Review 2013

Oru Indian Pranayakadha - Sathyan Anthikad, it was said, had taken a break from movie making to come up with something different to his usual 'same route bus' kind of stories and film making style. And it seemed that the ploy had worked well, when watching the first half which was thoroughly entertaining, had some superb scenes and was totally worth your time. But he comes back to his usual self in the second half which reminds us of 1980's movie making style with over-dramatic and un-necessary sentimental scenes and a pathetic plot which is presented even more badly on screen.

One feels sorry for Amala Paul who ,in-spite of being given a complex role she could have easily ruined, has given her best and was quite good. But your heartfelt sympathies goes out to Fahad Fasil who was exceptionally brilliant in the role of the young politician ,acting with the required maturity, artificiality and comic timing that was required of this role. In-fact he was so brilliant that his screen presence and performance made the scenes he was present the only bright spots of the second half.

We the audience deserve better from you Mr.Sathyan Anthikad !!!!!!!!

Ezhu Sundara Raathrikal - Lal Jose stoops to an all time low with this terribly boring film that is hampered by a poor plot and pathetic direction !!!! Dileep is totally miscast as the main lead and you are served a movie devoid of even some unintentional comedy to remember :(

Dhrishyam - The film that gives you the feeling you've been yearning for years - the feeling of leaving the theatre watching a Mohanlal movie ' happy' and 'fully satisfied'.

The first half is a tad slow and lagging taking a long time to setup the 'family mood' and it is only towards the fag end of the first half that the story starts moving. The second half though is brilliantly crafted with cre
dit to be given to the simple yet intense and attention-grabbing screenplay and a good climax. Though you could question the logic on second thought at some places, this is a movie which deserves all the benefit of the cinematic liberties you could give for a thriller

Mohanlal is brilliant in a role tailor made for him with some superb support from the rest of the cast headed by a superb performance from Kalabhavan Shajon. But the eventual star of the movie ought to be Jeethu Jospeh whose brilliant direction in the second half makes this simple family story a must watch!!!!!

Bicycle Thieves - A pretty decent one-time watch which is made quite well with numerous twists and turns in the plot.

Vedivazhipaadu - It's by no means a great film or not even something i would say good  But it surely does entertain you at a lot of places with its generous dose of adult comedy, one liners and some really good on-screen portrayals of real life characters that exists among us  Saiju Kurup,Sreejith Ravi and Muraly Gopy carry the film on their shoulders quite efficiently

Silence - Mammotty & VKP continue their flop procession in absolutely gorgeous fashion with this hell of a movie that is directed horribly and has a poor storyline, pathetic climax and a villain who provides us with some unintentional comedy by virtue of his wonderful performance

We've had enough of your horrible movies over the past one year Mr.VKP... Its high time you take your long overdue break from movie making...

Punyalan Agarbathies - A simple film targeted at the family audience with a socially relevant theme, some good humour and a great feel-good factor...  Surely worth a one time watch but still gives u a feeling that something is amiss somewhere!!!!!

Thira - A movie that has things happening a too easy for a thriller. Everything happens the way it ought to in a simplistic manner which really makes question the thriller quotient in the movie :) A brilliant Shobana and the good theme just about makes it an 'average' watch!!!

Geethanjali - A reloaded version of countless horror movies we've seen...

Priyadarshan : Why do you and Siddique come from Bollywood once in a while and torture us with these kind of stuff? And why by any means you should come back and make the kind of horror movie which our own super director Vinayan gives us every year.

Mohanlal : We frankly didn't expect a lot when you took a 7 month 'so-called' break from Mallu movies in the search of a good script. Still we wish the break had been a lil longer rather than come back in a movie with such a pathetic plot and suspense.

Nishaan : We've heard stories that you were a topper pass out in the acting department from the Pune Film institute. But please stay away from Mallu movies. We've had enough of your lifeless acting and pathetic lip/dialogue synch.

MG Sreekumar : We agree that the neither the tunes or music was great for this movie. But your singing has made it even more horrible. Please continue judging in tv shows and retire from movie playback singing.

Philips & The Monkey Pen - An absolutely awesome 'feel-good' movie that touches your heart, is shot superbly, has a simple yet brilliant storyline with some great dialogues and is enacted superbly by the child artists and seniors alike with Sanoop,Vijay Babu and Jayasuriya deserving a special mention... A movie totally worth your time and money

Escape From Uganda - You are sure to escape out of the movie theatre within the first half of the movie... It's a real poor attempt inspite of the promising storyline...

Aarambham - The usual tamil revenge drama, with not much a story to boast off which is shot stylishly, and has Ajith and Arya in good form....

Idukki Gold - Ashiq Abu delivers yet another one of his 'simple story' but 'differently & well presented' movie genre laced with some good dialogues and great camera work. The movie is a good one-time watch worth your time with an entertaining first-half and a not so bad second-half.The 'Gold'generation was superb on the screen with Raveendran and Raju being the pick of the lot. But the stars of the movie were undoubtedly the younger lot who portrayed the gold generation's childhood !!!!!

D Company- A stupid movie by all counts with the only exception being a stupendous performance from Jayasuriya :)

Ezhamathe Varavu - A collosal disappoinment considering the fact that the movie is coming from the MT-Hariharan combo that always had a minimum guarantee associated to it :( Bhavana and Vineeth are horribly miscast and poor in this poorly scripted movie with a pathetic story line... The biggest deterrent though ought to be the terrible songs that pop up at regular intervals and stand out as a sore thumb in this even otherwise totally flawed product...

Soodhu Kaavum - The genre defining and one of the most brilliant movies in the genre that will stay with you for long :)

Artist - One of the best movies from Shyamaprasad aided by a good performance from Fahad and a surprisingly superb one from Ann Auguestine :) A movie which surely deserves a watch!!!!

Memories - A great investigative thriller with a convincing screenplay, a good story, crafty making and some good performances from the entire cast. Prithviraj is absolutely awesome in the role of the drunkard officer and carries the entire film on his shoulders with a superb performance!!!!

Neelakasham Pachakkadal Chuvanna Bhoomi - Why would one mind a film with no story to boast of and takes a lot of cinematic liberties along the way, when it is shot superbly, doesn't bore you a bit,has a hero and his sidekick in superb form, has some great performances from the supporting actors  and is shot at some real beautiful locations across India  :)

Kadal Kadannoru Mathukutty - Renjith should conduct a workshop to explain to the viewers what he intended to presnet with this movie having one of the most stupid and illogical plots one could ever see.... A complete letdown !!!!

Honey Bee- Lal Jr etches out a good entertainer which, though has nothing new to offer in terms of plot, is superbly shot and presented well with some entertaining dialogues, performances and couple of good songs..

Shutter - Is a good movie that is worth a watch with a good plot and some decent performances worth remembering :) Still cant help note the amateurish direction and expectedly the low production values:)

Anchu Sundarikal - Starts off with a touching "Sethulakshmy" with some superb child artist performances which would bring a tear to even the strong hearted; Moves on to an entertaining and superbly shot "Isha" with some awesome shots; Then falls into a gutter with a horrible "Gowri"; Then skyrockets again with a brilliant "Kullante Bhaarya"with an amazing performance from the main character ( Kullan) and an awesome narration by Dulquar; And finishes off with a beautiful & simple "Aami"

Up and Down – Mukalil Oraalundu –  A Horribly bad movie!!!!!!

Left Right Left - An awesome and intense movie with some of the best dialogues ever written, to go along with some of the most brilliant characters ever created for a movie :) The performances are the most noteworthy thing about the movie with Indrajith delivering one of his best with some great support from Sethulakshmi and rest of the cast :)

ABCD - A Damn poor movie seriously making me wonder how it was lapped up by audiences and turned out to be a hit...

Yeh Jawaani Yeh Deewani – Colourful,youthful,time-pass entertainer with some good performances and excellent songs.

Hotel California – It was so ‘entertaining and awesome’ that I finally gave up the 'fun' after 45 minutes. Pathetic movie with a pathetic subject.

Thank You- An atrociously horrible movie which sets a benchmark for how bad a movie can be...

Mumbai Police - A movie that excels and thrills you with its different story, narration style, gripping script and an awesome performance from Prithviraj.. It requires amazing guts to make a movie like this and present it convincingly on screen :) By all means its a real trendsetter which deserves all kudos for its gutsy presentation :)

English - Shyamaprasad disappoints big time with this poorly made movie filled with cliched characters,an uninspiring screenplay and a poor climax...

Neram - Chumma "Neram" kalayan oro padangal :)

Ladies & Gentlemen - To call this film 'bad' or 'horrible' itself would be an understatement... This is probably one of the worst movies ever with a horrible story line, an uninterested hero, some uninspiring performances from the heriones, awful music and some poor comedy!!!!!

It would be great if Siddique could stay around in Bollywood and not come back to torture the Mallu audience like this... We've had enough you Mr.Gentleman director and will always be grateful to you for the wonderful movies you've made with Lal!!!

Immanuel - Though clichéd and quite cheap, a sincere performance from Mammotty and the directors choice of the realistic subject keeps you watching it somehow.

Red Wine - Uninspiring direction, poor choice of villains, lifeless heroines and a pathetic climax lets down this "one-time watch" movie big time.

Amen - The shots are superb, the plot is simple, the presentation style is excellent and the song picturization n lyrics are interesting.. Still the movie didn't excite me much :(

Aurangazeb - Though the premise is flawed and old, the movie is quiet engaging with some superb dialogues, good pace and some excellent performances from the entire cast lead by Arjun Kapoor,Rishi Kapoor and Prithviraj....

Fast & Furious 6 - Enjoy the absurd and bizzare actions scenes :) And ofcourse wait for FF7 with Sthatham :)

Lokpal - Joshiy-Mohanlal combo delivers a deadly dangerous movie!!!!

Kammath & Kammath - Its ok to watch 'leave your brains behind' type movies once in a while... But why the hell tolerate one that has no comedy, the plot moves in different directions every half an hour, has a language which is tough to understand and above all is damn boring!!!!

Iron Man 3 - The franchise continues to be as entertaining as always consolidating its place as one of the best comic book adaptation of all times :)

The Place Beyond the Pines - Though slow and a tad long, the movie is quite gripping and pans out well with a good plot and great performances from the cast...

Romans - Though the plot might be silly, Romans would surely rank as one of the best entertainers of the year with some genuinely good time pass stuff :)

Ek Thi Daayan - Though logical or not, though you believe in the concept or not; ETD is one well shot gripping horror supernatural movie...

Olympus Has Fallen - Though pretty much watchable, i dont understand why i dont enjoy these kind of action movies anymore :)

Annayum Rasoolum - Realism in movies comes at a cost and this could well explain why watching this movie turned out to be one long drawn tedious experience...

Trance - The numerous twists and the complex plot makes sure that that the movie is well worth your time :)

Parker - Yet another sub-standard yet time-pass action movie from Jason Statham... :)

Side Effects - A highly gripping thriller with an excellent plot and some great performances from the lead cast.... Totally impressed with the way the events unfolded on screen :)

David(Tamil) - Wish the makers had just concentrated on Jiva's story(good theme, well shot and some excellent performances) and made it to a full movie rather than putting in the Vikram track (totally irritating, illogical and poorly acted) therein making it a boring experience in total.

Django Unchained- An awesome performance from Christopher Waltz and superb direction from Tarantino makes this movie a great watch in-spite of its length :)

Zero Dark Thirty - A decently made "documentary" that surely lags at places :)

Special 26 - It's surely one of the best con films of all times with some excellent performances from the entire cast. Being set in the 80's works well to its favour such that there are no high tech con-nabbing techniques and the events that unfold on screen are entirely believable :)

Vishwaroopam - Though by no means great or path breaking, its surely worth a watch for an in-form Kamal hasan, a decent plot and some neatly picturized shots:)

2012 Mallu Mid Year Review(Jan-Jul mid)

2012 has so far been an excellent year for movie goers and movie makers alike. This year has witnessed a great change in the mindset of the movie watching public. People have flocked to theaters and are willing to watch and accept different subjects and this has provided a great impetus to filmmakers to try out a wide variety of subjects and unexplored territories.Lets hope that the rest of the year continues in the same vein and the film makers  dish out better and satisfying products...

At this juncture I thought I would pick out the best and worst of the lot in different categories...

Major Movie Disappointment of the mid-yr : Though we've had 'Hero','King and Commisioner','Asuravithu' etc, the unanimous choice for this award would be 'Cassanova'... It turned out to be a big disappointing exercise which was long in the making and had one of the illogical and silly storyline one can associate with a Mohanlal movie...

Miss of the mid-yr: 'Masters' - Though it had a very disappointing climax and a poor choice of casting in the form of Sasikumar, Masters had a one of the best developed thriller scripts for a Mallu movie told at a decent pace without having any unnecessary comedy/cliches or deviations from the main plot...

Lucky Tom of the mid-yr
: Mayamohini - Though no one had anything good to say about the movie,Mayamohini rang in impressive collections turning out to be one of the highest grossing movies of all times...

Bold Attempt of the mid-yr: 22FK... Though insipred from many movies, credit goes to Ashiq Abu for acknowledging the same and trying out an unexplored story in Malayalam...

Debuts of the mid-yr
: Dulqar Salman and Sunny Wayne for their amazing display in 'Second Show'... It was truly a memorable debut guys...

Mr.Guts of the mid-yr: Amal Neerad for attempting something risky and unexplored in the form of Bachelor Party with cash from his own kitty!!!

Attrocious Performance of the mid-yr: Though Ann Augustine came close with her performance in 'Ordinary',Asif Ali wins it hands down with his performance in the same movie and for taking it up to the next level in 'Asuravithu'...

Surprise of the mid-yr: Ordinary - Though the movie has an excellent first half to boast of, most haven't still not figured out how it became the second biggest hit of the year after Mayamohini..

Disappointing Star of the mid-yr- Prithviraj for doing 'Hero' and getting ready to torture us with 'Simhasanam'.. Wish Prithvi, the man touting the most for fresh and new subjects without superstar elements, had applied a lil common sense before committing to such hopeless ventures...

Deserving Deaths of the mid-yr - Shared by 'Cobra','Hero','King and Commisioner' and 'Cassanova' for being trashed without mercy by the public...

Top 5 Movies of the mid-year:

1. Ee Adutha Kaalathu : A wonderful jigsaw puzzle script with terrific performances from Indrajith,Muraly Gopi,Tanushree,Baiju & Nishaan
2. Ustad Hotel: Different,'coming of age' and an inspirational 'feel-good' movie
3. Thattathin Marayathu : True to the maker's claim it is a purely entertaining movie with nothing special to boast of in the story department
4. Diamond Necklace :A well crafted, pretty well picturized and neatly presented movie with great performances from the entire cast
5. Second Show: One of the most entertaining and differently presented movies of recent times aided by an excellent BGM,a compelling story/screenplay and a superb climax

Performances of the mid-yr:

1. Mohanlal for being in full form, looking interested, giving his heart out and carrying the film on his own in 'Spirit'
2. Indrajith for his natural and outstanding show in Ee Adutha Kaalathu
3. Fahad Fazil for his display in 22FK & Diamond Necklace
4. Rima Kallingal for her impressive displays in 22FK&Nidra

Song miss of the mid-yr: 'Swapnam Pankidam' from Second Show... This song went unnoticed inspite of the great tune and superb singing from Jakes Bijoy

Trendsetter song of the mid-yr
: 'Appangal' from 'Ustad Hotel' is surely a sensation for the public by all means...

Most talked about and loved 'small' film of the mid-yr: 'Manjaadikuru'

MovieReviews2012

Chetaayees - Though I didnt have any expectations about the movie, it turned out to be a great one-time watch with an ok and ordinary first half but a thouroughly entertaining and unexpected second half offering a lot of genuine laughs... The director and the lead actors (producers themselves) deserve full credit for this time-pass movie :)

Bavuttiyude Naamathil - A movie which puts even a Tv serial to shame with its silly plot, melodramatic sequences and poor acting.... Pathetic to see that this was lapped up by the audiences thus ending Mammotty's flop procession :)

Karmayodha - Welll.......... Met expectations in the way that it turned out to be as bad as expected :)

Da Thadiya - Ashiq Abu once again proves he's a master of making movies without any story at all by coming up with one of the best feel-good movies of recent times... This thouroughly entertaining movie is aided by some excellent performances from the entire cast, its narrative style, lack of cliches and some good songs...

101 Weddings - Happy seeing horrible craps like these ending up as big flops...

Ayalum Njanum Thammil - A film which surely deserves all the credit and accolades that had come its way.. An excellent Sanjay-Bobby script is directed superbly by Lal Jose with awesome performances from Prithviraj and Prathap Pothen supported by the rest of the cast...

Matinee - Quite a good watch with a superb, different and realistic plot inspite of a not so inspiring hero and some obvious flaws... A movie 'unfortunately" well worth your time for a satellite or DVD watch rather than on the big screen :)

916 - Though pretty much a TV soap theme wise, it still doesnt irritate you much due to some good performances from the entire cast headed by Anoop Menon and Nandu...

I Love Me - Horribly bad!!! High time someone bans bland movies like these... Anoop Menon irritates with his cool acting, Asif Ali n Unni Mukundan continue to be useless and Isha Thalwar almost makes sure that she'll not be considered again for a movie down here..

Poppins - Ithu pole ulla padangal undaakkunna alavalaathikale ketti ittu adikkanam... Arochakam...

Face 2 Face - Seriously not sure what the maker's intentions were... Really poor and amateurish direction by V.M.Vinu makes this decent looking plot on paper go haywire on screen...

English Vinglish - Cute films like these occur once in a while :) Not to be missed !!!!

Chapters - Well, just about a time-pass watch

Theevram - Old wine in a 'well packaged' bottle with some good performances from the entire cast. The treatment of the story surely makes it worth a watch

Jawan of Vellimala - Inspite of the honest and sinciere attempt with some great camera work, the movie turns out to be a boring experience...

Husbands in Goa - Pathetically horrible .....

Maatran - Ho.. Enthoru mosham!!!

Neethane En Ponvasantham - Why are Gautam Menon's love stories complex all the time? Why are his love-story characters always confused and never knows what to do? Why do these love stories drag forever? And how does he always bring out the best out of the lead pair in spite of their confused/shallow characterization?

Jab Tak Hai Jaan - In-spite of the cinematic liberties and length, the movie is thoroughly watchable and entertaining ... Thanks to a superb performance from Anushka and a SRK fully in form :)

Talaash - Though slow and sure to have its share of critics, the movie is a gripping thriller with some great performances from the entire cast and some real good music :) Though the main plot has nothing new to offer, the way the story unravels, progresses and culminates makes it worth a watch :)

Thuppakki - Surely the best Vijay movie of recent times with a decent plot, some good comedy and decent acting...

Does all these combined make it a great movie? Absolutely not :) The main reasons being some disappointing 'speed-breaker' songs and a horrible last half n hr...

Argo - Worth a watch :)

Skyfall - A superb bond movie with a great plot, excellent action and terrific performances from the cast... Javier Bardem and Craig rocked... The movie has got a class touch to it and is different from the usual bond movies of the past 2 decades in that its not a English version of 'Salman Khan' movies!!!!

Taken 2 - Such a disappointing and boring sequel to a great first part....

Cocktail - Utter Utter Utter crap!!!!!!!

Banking hours: Get lost Mr.K Madhu and look for other career options.. Disgusting!!!!

Trivandrum Lodge - A bold and beautiful film which breaches all the benchmarks set for dialogue vulgarity albeit entertainingly... Great work in the story telling/dialogue department is complemented well by some great direction and terrific music.. Anoop Menon,Jayasuirya and HoneyRose rocks in their respective roles with Shaiju Kurukkan

(Kurup) being the greatest surprise of all :)

Ozhimuri - An exceptionally brilliant movie which boasts of a superb script by Jeyamohan, brilliant direction by Madhupal and exceptional acting by Lal,Mallika,Shwetha,Nandhu & the rest of the cast including Asif Ali :) This true master-piece is highly recommended for all movie-lovers :)

Gangs of Wasseypur 1- A superb watch :)

Vicky Donor - A different theme executed brilliantly with some great performances from the whole cast, superb music and a terrific climax... Certainly the best Hindi movie of the yr so far :)

Run Baby Run - Though the logic goes for a toss at times and the climax is predictable,Mohanlal-Joshiy team delivers a thoroughly watchable and well directed entertainer with a neatly developed plot and some good performances from the cast... Though not path-breaking by any means, its a movie devoid of much gimmicks and certainly worth your time :)

Thappana -
A reasonably watchable first half with some genuine laughs is ruined by a totally pathetic and senseless second half... There is nothing new about the story or the presentation style and Mammooty continues his deserved 'flopo-mania' in style :)

Friday :
A different but boring film which surely should have been better... Though a decent one time watch it has lot of things going against it from being called a 'good' film :)

Cinema Company - The movie surely has all the faults one could associate with new-comer movies like 'not upto the mark acting','cliche scenes','over-sentimental' etc etc;Inspite of all these this movie is still a 'must-watch' for the diffent story,a wonderful presentation style, some superb visuals and couple of good songs.. This is surely a sinciere and unique piece of cinema :) Hats off to the team for this great attempt ....

Thattathin Marayathu: Vineeth Sreenivasan delivers one of the most entertaining and best-shot love stories of all times laced with some good humour, superb dialogues, great music and some exceptionally well picturised songs to go along with the great show put up by all the actors... Who cares if the storyline is predictable and the theme has been done to death :)

Ustad Hotel : Different,'coming of age' and an inspirational 'feel-good' movie with superb performances from Dulqar,Thilakan and rest of the cast... Superb songs and BGM aids the movie a great deal:).. In-spite of all these one cant surely ignore the total lack of a cinematic plot and the glaring similarities to 'Swades' :(

Bachelor Party: Its a sure shot flop :) But (for guys and guys alone) its still worth your time for its witty one liners and some entertaining dialogues :) Style is given predominance over the subject as expected and in-spite of the same they manage to etch out a time-pass plot... The first half is quite entertaining with loads of Amal Neerad cliche( slow motion walks & the slow motion song)and continues in the same pace till the climax.. The climax is kind of a let down with too

much style and shooting... But what else can you expect out a movie in which the director makes fun of himself!!!! Its a strict no-no for ladies and kids alike simply because they wont enjoy the dialogues or the action :) Kudos to Amal Neerad for attempting a movie like this with cash from his own kitty :) Rahman,Indrajith & Kalabhavan Mani were too good & stylish... Good to see Asif getting his act right this time :)

Spirit: Ranjith disappoints big time!!! A boring, long and slow documentary on 'Alcoholism and its ill effects' with a superb performance from Mohanlal and an occasional good scene/one-liner in btw!!!!

Shanghai: A pretty boring first half and some heavy duty stuff in general:) not a bad watch though:)

Hero - The movie, expected to be bad, turned out to be one hell of a torturous experience.... Wish Prithvi, the man touting the most for fresh and new subjects without superstar elements, had applied lil common sense before committing to such a hapless venture....

Diamond Necklace : A well crafted, pretty well picturized and neatly presented movie which gets slow midway through the second half and gets even slower towards the climax portions :) Pretty good performances from Fahad,Goutami and the newcomer Anusree to go along with couple of melodious well shot songs... A better paced and lag free second half would have guaranteed Lal Jose a sure shot hit... :)

Grandmaster - A pretty 'dragging','minimum guarantee type gimmick filled' first half is filled with bouts of boredom... The second half is much better with a pretty well developed suspense and a decent ending... None of the actors are bad neither got anything exceptional to do :)

22FK - Bouquets for the bold attempt and brickbats for the poor execution!!! The film starts off with a very entertaining and refreshing first 45 min .... But too many deviations from the main plot, the attempt to make it too realistic and a lot of 'uneventful' scenes make it a boring watch for the rest of the period.. There are few good scenes in between though..Excellent performances from Rima and Fahad :) .. Good to see the makers accepting the fact that they inspired it from 'Ek Hasina Thi' and the 'Kill Bill' series :) This film is a big disappointment :(

Masters - The climax is a minor disappointment, its a lil overdone and the direction seems pretty ordinary at times; In-spite of these deterrents the movie is pretty much engaging and a 'one-time watch' worth your time.... The movie is helped a great deal by a pretty good script and quite decent performances from the entire cast... The absence of any unnecessary comedy or deviations from the main plot aids the movie a great deal... :)

King and Commisioner - The movie which exceeded expectations by being much worse that i had expected... Its boredom and stupidity at its very best right from the first scene itself...Uninspiring and "seen-before" dialogues are a highlight of this movie.... Mammooty's hair fondling, kick boxing sequences and some horrible graphics provided some genuine laughs....Left the theatre with almost 45 min of the movie remaining :)

Ordinary: A pretty good first half with some superb dialogues is ruined by an amateurish, badly directed and boring second half... Its high time Asif Ali sticks to his 'chocolate-boy' roles and Ann Augustine reconsiders acting on screen....

Thalsamayam Oru Penkutty: Plain torture in the pretext of 'attempting something different'... So boring, dragging and uneventful....

Ee Adutha Kaalathu - Another good 'new-generation' movie!!!! Though the film takes time to take-off and introduce the characters, it is well worth the patience for what follows in the pre-interval and the second half portions.... Indrajith and new comer Tanushree were brilliant and a special mention for Muraly Gopi for his wonderful script and performance... Kudos to the director for another brave attempt :)

Second Show - The camera work is a bit shaky, the direction could have been a little more better at times and the editing could have been a little more crisper; These are just minor deterrents in what could otherwise be touted as one of the most entertaining and differently presented movies of recent times... The movie is aided by an excellent BGM,a compelling story/screenplay and a superb climax... It's a dream debut for Dulqar Salman and Sunny Wayne...

The movie might not be liked by all and there will surely be faults associated with the final product.. But for people who are looking for some variety, this is the movie to watch !!!

This movie is dedicated to all those film lovers who are tortured week after week by the 'cliche' and 'minimum guarantee' stuff ditched out by our stars and film makers...

CASSANOVA
: is a big disappointment !! And the blame lies squarely with Sanjay-Bobby who comes up with the most illogical and silly storyline one can associate with a Mohanlal movie... It's High time Mohanlal quits dancing ans stops trying Matrix style action sequences... :)

To give credit where its due; This is one of most visually rich Mallu movies of all time... :)

PBD Saroj Kumar
: Neither a great nor a good film... It's a different attempt, though it seems like an extension of Udayananu Tharam at times... The first half is presented as a spoof and it takes the shape of a proper movie only in the second half... Altogether it's a just about watchable film with a couple of well picturized songs to go along with the spoof humour... Fahad Fazil proves his calibre yet again !!! Go in with least expectations and with the mindset of watching a spoof movie and you might not be disappointed with the end product:)

MovieReviews2011

AOPMN - It starts off with a 'horrendous' and 'horrific' first 25 min and becomes a tad better with the introduction of Mukesh...It meanders between being boring and just about watchable for most of the time with very few good comical scenes in between...Mohanlal had nothing special to do and looks 'horribly fat' while Mukesh scores in his role... A totally unwanted and unnecessary movie...

Venicile Vyapari.... Very disappointed!!! A pretty decent and watchable first half is ruined by an equally bad, slow and illogical second half.... Overall a very disappointing movie and a sure shot flop....

Beautiful : One of the most beautiful films of recent times :) Its a very simple story narrated beautifully... Anoop Menon and Jayasuriya rocks :) It's freedom of film making at its very best :)

Indian Rupee - Ranjith strikes again :) A superbly shot movie with nothing exceptional about it... :) Thilakan excelled,Prithviraj was superb and Tini Tom was top notch :)

Snehaveedu - A pretty good and watchable first half (though nothing special) is ruined by an uneventful, boring second half... Sathyan Anthikaud fails terribly in the story department...
Mohanlal is in fine form in a commercial movie after a long time... He looks interested and is natural to the core... :)

DR.Love - Kure bhaagangal nalla bore aanelum, mothathil oru avg padam... A different but decent attempt :)

Sevens - Joshiy chatichaashane :) Second half nalla pole kulamaakki :) Enkilum better than the superstar multistar films :)

PRANAYAM... Nalla pole bore adippikkunna, nallavannam slow aaya, nalla oru chithram... Mohanlal was good but Anoop Menon stole the show...

Someone needs to tell Blessy that no performance(Anupam Kher and Jayaprada) is complete without proper lip sync for the dialogues...

Bombay;1993 March 12.... A very different and daring attempt... A good theme executed quite well with a very daring climax... Mammotty plays an excellent extended cameo but the film belongs to the newcomer Unni... Roma acts decently for the first time ever :) A film which is not for all and as expected around 80% haven't liked the movie :)

TRAFFIC : I always thought that the chance to call a mallu movie exceptional had died with the passage of the 90's...

Kaazcha proved me wrong... Kerala Cafe gave me hope... And now TRAFFIC makes me a proud mallu film fan...
